Gwei

For the silliest of coincidences, if you try to pronounce it in your head, Gwei is one of those things that might sound a bit technical but is actually very simple once you get the notion. In other words, gwei is a subunit of ether, which is the currency of the Ethereum platform. One gwei equals 0. It has a balance, 000000001 ETH, which to be honest, is minuscule. That is why I would rather hear: ‘20 gwei’ than spending time at ‘0. 000000020 ETH’ when discussing the gas prices of a blockchain.

Thus, when you are seeking to send a transaction in the Ethereum network, you will notice that different gas prices are expressed in gwei. When someone claims that the gas price is 20 gwei, it is just meant that you will have to spend 20 gwei or, in other words, 0. 00000002 ether on each unit of gas. As someone who is part of the network, it may seem miniscule but those fractions can build up over time, more so when the network is large and the prices of gas increases. That way, fees such as these presented in gwei are manageable without getting caught in the decimal figures.

Plena Finance's Smart Wallet is designed to optimize the user experience when dealing with transaction costs, specifically when using Gwei, the unit of measurement for gas fees on the Ethereum network. By automatically adjusting and recommending appropriate Gwei amounts based on network conditions, Plena's Smart Wallet ensures users get the most efficient and cost-effective transactions. This feature helps users save on fees and enhances their interaction with Ethereum-based DeFi protocols, making Plena Finance a smarter choice for managing transactions on the blockchain.
