Centralised Exchange (CEX)

Centralised Exchange (CEX)

A Centralised Exchange (CEX) is a digital platform that facilitates the trading of cryptocurrencies and other digital assets in a centralized manner. CEXs operate as intermediaries that match buyers and sellers, providing order books, trading pairs, and liquidity for users to trade assets.

These exchanges typically require users to create accounts, undergo identity verification, and deposit funds before engaging in trading activities. While CEXs offer convenience, user-friendly interfaces, and high trading volumes, they also pose security risks due to the centralization of user funds and control. Users on centralized exchanges must trust the platform to securely store their assets and execute trades. Despite the convenience they offer, concerns about security, privacy, and control have led to the rise of decentralized exchanges (DEXs) as alternatives that prioritize user ownership and control of assets.
